Read one of these listings and you will find an extraordinary level of detail. Ninety earring slots. Sixty ring slots. Twenty-four necklace hooks. Three bracelet rods, five makeup shelves, two drawers, a velvet lining and a lock with two keys.
Now look for the two figures that decide whether it can go on your door.
Not one product on this page publishes the door thickness its hangers fit, and not one publishes what those hangers hold. These cabinets weigh between 14.1 and 21.8 lb empty. That makes them, by a wide margin, the heaviest thing this site has ever covered going over a door -- and the only category where the mounting is undocumented.
What 20 lb on a door actually means here
We have two pages built entirely on the figures this category omits. Over-the-door weight limits collects the published per-hook ratings across the category: they run from 2.2 lb to 5 lb per hook. Door thickness and fit collects the published fit figures: over-door products generally state they fit doors 1.25 to 2.25 inches thick, and one shoe organizer we cover publishes a 1.37 in maximum.
Those are the numbers an over-door hook publishes for holding a dressing gown. A jewelry cabinet weighs four to ten times as much, hangs on two steel hangers, swings every time the door moves, and publishes neither figure.
This is not a reason to avoid the category. It is the reason weight is the ranking criterion on this page, ahead of capacity. When no maker tells you what the mount can take, the only lever you control is how much you ask of it.
| Cabinet | Weight | Size | Published interior capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| SONGMICS UJJC050W01 | 14.1 lb | 3.8 D x 14.6 W x 26.4 H in | 72 earring slots, 24 stud holes, 24 necklace hooks, 39 ring slots, 3 bracelet rods, 2 shelves |
| SONGMICS UJJC99WT | 20.06 lb | 3.7 D x 14.6 W x 42.5 H in | 32 necklace hooks, 5 shelves, 2 drawers, 1 bracelet rod, 1 ring cushion |
| SONGMICS UJJC93W | 20.5 lb | 3.9 D x 14.6 W x 47.2 H in | 32 necklace hooks, 5 shelves, 2 drawers, 1 bracelet rod, 1 ring cushion |
| SONGMICS UJJC026W01 | 21.8 lb | 3.9 D x 16.5 W x 42.5 H in | Not published as counts |
| Antok 48 in | Not published | 3.5 D x 15 W x 48 H in | 90 earring slots, 24 necklace hooks, 60 ring slots, 5 makeup shelves, 2 drawers |
How these are ranked
Weight first, lightest first, because it is the only variable you can control in a category with no published mount rating. Then how much the listing tells you about the mounting. Then published interior capacity, which is where these listings are genuinely strong. Then reversibility and price. The full method is here. We have not tested any of these; every figure is somebody else's published number.
The wall-mount option is not for you
Every cabinet here advertises two mounting methods: hang it over the door, or screw it to the wall. The listings treat these as equal alternatives. In a rental they are not.
Screwing 20 lb of MDF to a wall means fixings into plasterboard, and at that weight it means proper anchors rather than a picture pin -- holes you will be filling and repainting at move-out. There is no adhesive route either: the strongest damage-free product we cover publishes 20 lb for a whole set of XL picture strips, which is the full weight of the cabinet with nothing left over, and strips need a flat back that a cabinet does not have.
So for a renter this is an over-the-door product with a wall-mount option on the box. Which brings the missing door figures back to the center of the decision.
A loaded door behaves differently
This is the part that does not show up in any specification and is worth saying plainly.
Twenty pounds hanging off the top edge of a door changes how it moves. It swings harder, it slams harder, and on a hollow-core interior door -- which is what most rented flats have -- the hinges are carrying a load they were not specified for. Over a long tenancy the failure that actually shows up is not the cabinet falling; it is a door that has dropped slightly on its hinges and now catches on the frame.
Three practical responses. Use the lightest cabinet that holds your collection -- there is a 7.7 lb spread across this page for broadly similar storage. Hang it on a door you do not slam, which usually means a closet door rather than a bedroom one. And put the heavy items in the bottom drawers rather than the top shelves, because where the weight sits inside the cabinet changes how much it swings.
The capacity figures are good, and worth reading closely
Credit where it is due: this category publishes interior detail that most of the products on this site do not come close to. If you own 40 pairs of earrings you can establish, before buying, that a cabinet has 72 slots for them.
Two cautions. The counts are not consistent between listings -- one cabinet here lists both "1 Bracelet Rod" and "3 Bracelet Rods" in the same sentence, which is a reminder that these lists are marketing copy rather than a specification sheet. And a slot count says nothing about slot size: 60 ring slots cut for slim bands will not take chunky rings, and no maker publishes a slot dimension.
What we would skip
Wall-mounting it in a rental. Covered above. The anchors required for 20 lb leave holes that need filling, and no damage-free product publishes enough capacity to substitute.
The heaviest cabinet on a hollow-core door. If you are choosing between a 14 lb and a 22 lb cabinet for similar storage, and nobody has rated the hangers, the choice makes itself.
Fabric hanging jewelry rolls, if you want documented products. They are the other half of this category and they are cheaper, but we could not find one from a manufacturer that publishes a specification you could check. We only rank products whose figures come from an identifiable maker, so this page covers the cabinet half only.
Assuming the LEDs are mains powered. They are not. The lit cabinets here run on batteries -- one states 3 AAA cells, not included -- which is fine, but it is a thing to replace rather than a feature that simply works.
The rest of the door, and the rest of the room
A door is the most underused surface in a rented flat and the one with the most published constraints. Best over-the-door organizers covers the whole category by published load and fit, and over-the-door vs wall-mounted is the page for deciding which approach a given item wants.
If the jewelry is really a symptom of a bedroom with nowhere to put anything, apartment closet organization is the broader plan, and no-drill closet systems covers the rod doublers and hanging towers that free up the space a cabinet would otherwise occupy.
The picks in full
Every figure below is published by the manufacturer or the retailer listing named beside it. Where a figure is not published, the row says so rather than carrying an estimate.

#1 · Lightest at 14.1 lb
SONGMICS Lockable Jewelry Cabinet with Mirror, 26.4 in (UJJC050W01)
SONGMICS · Best for hanging on a hollow interior door without worrying about it
8.9
out of 10
The lightest cabinet here at 14.1 lb, which in a category where nobody publishes a bracket rating is the most useful number on the listing.
| Specification | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Weight and size | 14.1 lb; 3.8 D x 14.6 W x 26.4 H in | SONGMICS UJJC050W01 product listing |
| Published capacity | 72 earring slots, 24 earring stud holes, 24 necklace hooks, 39 ring slots, 3 bracelet rods, 2 shelves | SONGMICS UJJC050W01 product listing |
| Mounting | 2 hangers for hanging on a door, plus screws for wall mounting; 2 protective pads on the back | SONGMICS UJJC050W01 product listing |
| Door thickness | Not published | SONGMICS UJJC050W01 product listing |
What the specification gets you
- At 14.1 lb it is a third lighter than the full-length cabinets here, which is the single best way to reduce the risk nobody publishes a figure for
- A 26.4 in cabinet clears most door handles, where a 47 in one often does not
- Protective back pads are stated, not just implied
What it does not cover
- No door thickness figure published, so you are measuring your own door and hoping the hangers clear it
- Frameless mirror is more exposed to knocks than the framed versions
- Smallest capacity of the cabinets here, though still 72 earring slots
Coming off the wall
Lift it off the door. The two protective pads on the back are the detail that matters in a rental -- they are what stops 14 lb of cabinet rubbing a painted door over two years.

#2 · Full-length mirror, framed
SONGMICS 6 LED Mirror Jewelry Cabinet, 47.2 in (UJJC93W)
SONGMICS · Best for a bedroom where the mirror and the jewelry storage have to be the same object
8.6
out of 10
A full-length mirror that is also the storage, which in a rented bedroom with one usable wall is a genuinely efficient trade. 20.5 lb of it, on two hangers.
| Specification | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Weight and size | 20.5 lb; 3.9 D x 14.6 W x 47.2 H in | SONGMICS UJJC93W product listing |
| Published capacity | 32 necklace hooks, 5 shelves, 2 bottom drawers, 1 bracelet rod and 1 large ring cushion | SONGMICS UJJC93W product listing |
| Mounting | Wall mount with provided screws, or hang over the door using the included brackets | SONGMICS UJJC93W product listing |
| Other | Solid MDF body, framed full-length glass mirror, lockable, 6 battery-powered LEDs inside | SONGMICS UJJC93W product listing |
What the specification gets you
- Full-length framed mirror plus the whole jewelry collection in a 3.9 inch depth
- Framed glass is better protected than the frameless cabinets here
- Lockable, which matters more in a shared flat or a house share than most listings admit
What it does not cover
- 20.5 lb hanging on two door brackets, with no published rating for either the brackets or the door
- 47.2 in is long enough to foul a door handle on many interior doors -- measure before buying
- A swinging door with 20 lb of cabinet on it behaves differently, and slams harder
Coming off the wall
Lifts off the door brackets. The wall-mount option needs screws, which is the version a renter should ignore.

#3 · Largest stated capacity
Antok 6 LED Jewelry Cabinet with Lock, 48 in Full Length Mirror
Antok · Best for the biggest collection, if you read the spec carefully
8.1
out of 10
The largest published capacity on this page by a distance -- 90 earring slots and 60 ring slots -- from a listing that also contradicts itself on how many bracelet rods you get.
| Specification | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Published capacity | Stated as 90 earring slots, 24 necklace hooks, 60 ring slots, 1 accessory pouch, 5 makeup shelves and 2 drawers. The same sentence lists both '1 Bracelet Rod' and '3 Bracelet Rods' | Antok product listing |
| Size | 48 H x 15 W x 3.5 D in | Antok product listing |
| Mounting | Wall mount with included screws, or hang over the door; stated to need zero floor space | Antok product listing |
| Other | MDF with black velvet lining, lockable with 2 keys, 6 auto-on LEDs powered by 3 AAA batteries (not included) | Antok product listing |
What the specification gets you
- 90 earring slots and 60 ring slots is the largest stated capacity here
- Velvet lining is a real difference for anything that scratches
- 3.5 in deep is the slimmest cabinet on this page
What it does not cover
- The capacity list contradicts itself on bracelet rods, which is not confidence-inspiring in the one place the listing is detailed
- No model number and no published weight, so you cannot even estimate the load on the door
- No door thickness figure, like everything else here
Coming off the wall
Lifts off the door hangers; the wall option needs screws.

#4 · Clears more door handles
SONGMICS Mirror Jewelry Cabinet Armoire, 42.5 in (UJJC99WT)
SONGMICS · Best for a door where the full 47 inch cabinet would not clear the handle
8.4
out of 10
The same interior as the 47 inch model in a slightly shorter body, which is the version that clears more door handles.
| Specification | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Weight and size | 20.06 lb; 3.7 D x 14.6 W x 42.5 H in | SONGMICS UJJC99WT product listing |
| Published capacity | 32 necklace hooks, 5 shelves, 2 bottom drawers, 1 bracelet rod and 1 large ring cushion | SONGMICS UJJC99WT product listing |
| Mounting | Wall mount with provided screws, or over the door using the included brackets | SONGMICS UJJC99WT product listing |
| Door thickness | Not published | SONGMICS UJJC99WT product listing |
What the specification gets you
- Nearly five inches shorter than the 47 in model for the same interior, which solves the handle-clearance problem
- Framed full-length mirror and a lock, same as its larger sibling
- Slimmest of the SONGMICS cabinets at 3.7 in deep
What it does not cover
- Still 20 lb on unrated door brackets
- Most expensive cabinet here
- Same missing door thickness figure as every other product on this page
Coming off the wall
Off the brackets and down. Nothing fixed if you use the door option.
Skip this if
Skip this if the extra five inches of mirror matters more than the handle clearance. The 47 in model costs less for a longer mirror.

#5 · Second mirror inside
SONGMICS LED Jewelry Cabinet with Round Mirror, 42.5 in (UJJC026W01)
SONGMICS · Best for using it as a dressing station rather than just storage
8.0
out of 10
The one with a second mirror inside, so you can check your face without closing the door. Also the heaviest thing on this page at 21.8 lb.
| Specification | Published figure | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Weight and size | 21.8 lb; 3.9 D x 16.5 W x 42.5 H in, stated 2 in wider than standard | SONGMICS UJJC026W01 product listing |
| Interior | Interior mirror with natural-looking LED lighting, so the cabinet can be used open | SONGMICS UJJC026W01 product listing |
| Mounting | Wall or door mounted | SONGMICS UJJC026W01 product listing |
| Published capacity | Described as holding earrings, necklaces, rings, bracelets and makeup tools; no slot counts published | SONGMICS UJJC026W01 product listing |
What the specification gets you
- The interior mirror is a real functional difference -- you can use it open, which none of the others allow
- 16.5 in wide gives a broader exterior mirror than the 14.6 in cabinets
- Round floating-mirror design looks least like a storage cabinet
What it does not cover
- Heaviest here at 21.8 lb, on the same unrated door hangers
- The only SONGMICS cabinet on this page that publishes no slot counts, just a list of what it holds
- Widest body, so the least likely to clear a narrow door frame or architrave
Coming off the wall
Door-mounted it lifts off; wall-mounted it needs screws.

Questions people actually ask
How much weight can an over-the-door jewelry cabinet's brackets hold?
No maker in this category publishes a figure, which is the central problem with it. For context, over-the-door hooks and racks generally publish 2.2 lb to 5 lb per hook, while the cabinets here weigh 14.1 to 21.8 lb empty. Since the mount rating is unpublished, the practical approach is to choose the lightest cabinet that holds your collection.
What door thickness do over-the-door jewelry organizers fit?
None of the five cabinets here publishes a figure. Across the wider over-the-door category, products typically state a fit of 1.25 to 2.25 inches, and one shoe organizer we cover publishes a 1.37 in maximum. Measure the edge of your door before ordering, because a thick solid door may be outside what these hangers will go over.
Will an over-the-door jewelry cabinet damage a rented door?
The hangers themselves sit over the top edge and lift off, so there is nothing fixed. The two risks are rubbing, which protective pads on the back are meant to prevent -- one cabinet here states it includes them -- and the long-term effect of 20 lb on hollow-core door hinges, which can leave a door dropped and catching on its frame.
Can I wall-mount a jewelry cabinet in a rental instead?
You can, but it means screws and proper anchors for 14 to 22 lb of MDF, and those holes need filling and repainting at move-out. There is no damage-free alternative at that weight: the strongest adhesive product we cover publishes 20 lb for a full set of XL picture hanging strips, which is the entire weight of the cabinet with no margin, and strips need a flat back these do not have.
How many pieces of jewelry do these hold?
The listings are unusually detailed here. The largest states 90 earring slots, 60 ring slots, 24 necklace hooks, 5 makeup shelves and 2 drawers; a smaller cabinet states 72 earring slots, 24 stud holes, 39 ring slots and 3 bracelet rods. Read them closely though -- one listing contradicts itself on bracelet rods, and no maker publishes the size of a slot, so chunky rings may not fit slots cut for slim bands.
Will a 47 inch jewelry cabinet clear my door handle?
Often it will not, and this is the measurement people miss. A full-length cabinet hanging from the top of a standard interior door reaches down to roughly handle height. Measure from the top edge of the door to the top of the handle and compare that against the cabinet height -- the 42.5 in and 26.4 in models here exist largely to solve this.
Are the LED lights in these cabinets mains powered?
No. The lit models here are battery powered -- one states 6 auto-on LEDs running from 3 AAA batteries, which are not included. That is normal for the category and keeps the product cordless, but the batteries are a consumable rather than a one-off.
