Over-the-door storage is the purest renter-proof product class there is. It touches no wall, needs no adhesive, works the same on textured paint, wallpaper and brick, and lifts off in one movement when you leave. If your walls have ruled out adhesive hooks, this is where you should be looking.
It also has exactly one gate, and it is a measurement rather than a preference: how thick is your door? The four products here fit doors from 1.25 to 2.25 inches, and no single one covers that whole range. Go and measure the edge of the door before reading any further -- it takes ten seconds and it eliminates at least one of these picks for you.

Measure the door, not the frame
Put a tape measure across the edge of the open door. That number decides which of these you can buy. Interior doors in apartments are commonly around 1-3/8 inches, and solid-core or exterior-style doors are commonly 1-3/4 -- which is outside the range of three of the four products above. The Spectrum hook exists precisely for that case: it locks over doors from 1-7/16 to 2-1/4 inches, which is the range where most over-door hardware quietly gives up.
Two more clearances matter and get skipped. The gap at the top: the hook has to pass over the door and the door still has to close against its stop, so a deep hook on a door with a weather seal can foul. Per-hook is the number, not the total
Umbra publishes 5 lb per hook across 14 hooks. Yamazaki publishes 2.2 lb per hook. Those are the figures to plan against: a winter coat on a single 2.2 lb hook is over the rating, whatever the rack's overall build suggests. Distribute the load, and treat the total as the sum of what you are willing to put on each hook rather than a headline number the maker never gave you. What we would skip
Any over-door product, from anyone, bought before you have measured the door. That is not a cop-out answer: the single most common failure in this category is a rack that will not seat, and it is entirely preventable. If you have measured and your door is 1-3/4 inches, skip the Umbra and both Yamazaki products regardless of how good they are -- they will not fit, and a rack that half-seats rattles loose the first time the door swings hard.
If the door is the wrong thickness
Two fallbacks, neither of which touches a wall. Freestanding shelving publishes 11 to 66 lb per shelf and does not care about your doors at all. Do over-the-door organizers damage the door?
